Camping in the Streets

Read this. It’s a cogent analysis of the massive street protests that began in July in Israel.  Theorizes both optimistic and pessimistic outcomes.

When I was there last October, Rabbi Arik Ascherman told us that young people (20s and 30s) were running the protests in Sheikh Jarrakh and wanted the old people (like him, like me — in our 40s and 50s) to leave it to them. I think this is the same age group. It’s the same folks who are doing exciting work here in Troy and Albany — a few of whom have joined the synagogue, too. I love their energy! Gives me hope for the future.
