As Barry Goldman commented, “Doodling aimlessly?”

In response to a comment below, I want to clarify:  I am absolutely NOT saying that God reached down and deliberately killed and destroyed.  No!  This is “God’s work” only in the sense that physics (and therefore weather patterns) is part of the created universe.

No, I was just riffing on the fact that I heard, over and over yesterday, that tornados are often called “the finger of God.”  In fact, the second photograph above was captioned “The angry finger of God” by the Washington Post.

There’s a place in the Haggadah (the guidebook for the Passover Seder) where the long-ago rabbis point out that the plagues in Egypt are referred to as “the finger of God” by the Egyptian magicians, while it says at the Red Sea that the Israelites saw “the hand of God.”

This tornado wasn’t just a “finger,” it was a whole “hand.”
