More than 150 years ago, the founders of Berith Sholom created a congregation dedicated to a covenant of peace. Today the spirit of that covenant is alive and well. The Berith Sholom community continues to be dedicated to the highest ideals and traditions of our faith. We embrace one another as extended family while making space for the diversity of our Jewish and human journeys. As spiritual family, we celebrate joyous occasions together, raise and educate our children with love for our heritage and with respect for each individual child and each family constellation, and support one another in times of challenge and loss. We embrace the heritage of service we inherited from our spiritual ancestors, continuing to grow our traditions of giving to the community and joining our interfaith communities in seeking social justice for all.
To ensure that covenant for the next 150 years–and the 150 years after that—Congregation Berith Sholom is honored to participate in the Harold Grinspoon Life & Legacy Program. We were one of only 10 Jewish organizations in the area selected to participate in this incentive grant and training program, which is jointly sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York.
The program focuses on cultivating legacy gifts—those made as a provision of one’s will—to grow our endowment. Endowed gifts are invested directly, and the income generated by that investment is used to support the daily operating costs and future growth of our congregation. The principal gift is never touched, but it continues to generate income in perpetuity.
You don’t need to have great wealth to participate—only a great heart!
